For a long time now Mitch has been pushing his money agenda. He distanced himself from all things spiritual in an attempt to gain favor in the scientific community. In this process he shouted insults high and low against all the things he previously talked about and referred only mildly to “ancient texts”. He did this because he had an emotional need for validation that was so great he was more than willing to sell his soul to get it. What were once free newsletters about earth change events became an endless barrage of self promotion and aggrandizement. Various aspects of this have bothered me for quite some time but never enough to bother writing about it. Every year once or twice he does a big promotion to get people to give money to keep the newsletter “free” because otherwise he just couldn’t afford to do it. Well hmmmmmm he got people to give 2000 or more dollars so he could promote himself in a newsletter that no longer contains any relevant news WTF! I thought to myself this guy is a real fricken piece of work, but whatever.
Then earlier this year he started begging for money to send his wife and baby to Europe for a few weeks so his baby could meet her grandmother. I was really disgusted by this. As if it is the responsibility of his site members, or newsletter readers to pay for a family vacation, but like the sheep that he insults regularly for mindlessly following others who are on his hit list, they did. I was fired enough to want to write up something about it at the time, but I have been dealing with subacute thyroiditis since February and did not have the energy to follow through with that. (that is also why there have not been other postings on the blog)
Now though this guy and his damn greed have just gone too far!
I open up my email box this morning and there is a newsletter saying it is an URGENT message from the Mayans. Well like all his newsletters the last couple years I figured it would be all hype and no content and that was correct, but it went further. He states he is writing up important info that he will put out on Monday but wanted to let us know today so that he could tell us he was not trying to whip up fear. The real reason he wanted us to know today that this article is coming Monday is simple MEMBERSHIPS IN HIS SITE I.E. CASH!
He tells us that the Mayans asked him to give out this important information for free but that it may put him out of business if he did therefore he will offer us a 1/2 price membership.
So in other words either A. There is no urgent message and he is trying to con people into becoming members or B. he told the Mayan elders NO essentially he will not respect their request to get this urgent message out free. Thus not just selling spiritual knowledge (or in Battros speak ancient text) but selling knowledge that is not his and that he was given freely and asked to give free.
I AM DISGUSTED BEYOND WORDS! Who the hell do you think you are Mitch Battros? If there is a real message to be given and you think you have the right to charge for it when the elders you proclaim to have the greatest respect for asked you to give it out for free WTF. That is the ultimate proof that you are the scum that you have appeared to be the last couple years. “Ancient texts” or other oral knowledge of the Mayans are not yours to sell! Seriously you think oh no I can’t do what is right because it may affect my business of making money off of people’s desire to know about earth changes. Well guess what it must be time for you to find another way to support your family. The Mayans are not responsible for your bills, nor are your readers responsible to provide your wife with a trip to see her mother. Get some fucking self respect and do what is right! You are clearly living the catholic model you grew up with, “maybe I’ll share something someone else told me for free if you just tithe your 10% so I can live the life I want”.
You are a shill and why any self respecting Mayan was talking to you before this is a mystery to me but if Carlos keeps talking to you after you tried to profit off the knowledge he is sharing from the other elders then we will know all we need to know about him as well!
The idea that this newsletter is something that costs you money that you need thousands every year to keep it free is pure bullshit. You spend a few minutes each time you want to promote yourself writing us a little bit of pure crap or drama and then fill space for you promotions of books. I think that is the only reason the newsletter exists, because if you didn’t write up some crap to send out a couple times a month the “newsletter” would be what it is, promotional SPAM. Providing a website does not cost that much I have discussed this before I have been providing this website for FREE since 1998! My family lives paycheck to paycheck and we don’t have extras and especially trips to Europe for weeks at a time, but we have always felt the website was a priority and it doesn’t cost that much. I don’t do readings, I don’t sell healing work. You spend a lot of time going on and on about the spiritual charlatans in the world well look in the damn mirror.
So let me just say this if the Mayans actually have an Urgent message they need posted to the web for free they should let me know I would make them a fricken subdomain if they are the real elders giving out their real information and there would be no worry of loss of profit for me since I have never used my spirituality or this site to make a profit off sharing important information that humanity truly needs. I would do all the html etc if needed as well. It’s called being of service to humanity during these times of earth changes something you claim was your mission statement when you started earth changes TV (that became earth changes media). You are a dis-service to humanity. Your ego has always been huge and an obvious issue but now that coupled with your greed is out of control, You should be ashamed of yourself!
btw it is very rare for me to swear like this in a blog post but I am still not recovered from thyroiditis and this is just raw emotion uncensored and with no politically correct crap, take it or leave it cause I don’t have the energy to care about some people’s response to the language or how they think a spiritual person should talk or “present themselves”. Now for some background on The Mayan Sacred Books of ‘Chilam Balam’
My recent guests Mayan Elders Carlos Barrios and Don Delgado, has turned out to be a most important surprise. Although Carlos did tell me he brought with him for our interview a highly regarded Mayan elder to tell us of coming events based on Mayan prophecy; I had no idea of the caliber and respected standing Don Delgado has with the Maya people. He is one of the very few who is the translator of the Mayan Sacred Books of ‘Chilam Balam’ (Mayan Prophecy).
What this means to you and me, is a direct connection to previously coveted knowledge of the "ancient ones" who have passed down their wisdom through petroglyphs, hieroglyphs, symbols and writings. Very few people are able to translate this Maya sacred language and decipher its meaning and how it applies for us today.
Folks, I would suggest to you we are truly gifted to be able to receive such knowledge from our ancient elders. It was just a few short years ago; we were not allowed to have such access to highly coveted information. It was believed we were not worthy of such knowledge and would most likely "mis-use" it for selfish needs. But probably most of all, it would pose a threat to modern religions, mostly Christians, and would have been declared blasphemous.
So there must be a reason why the wisdom and knowledge of our ancient ancestors are coming forward at this time. I suggest the reason is simple. It is because —- The Time is Now. We are living in the time of prophecy. We will witness its unfolding. We have the opportunity to embrace the changes, facilitate its amplification, to be part of its maturation bringing us into a new world. We have a choice: To fear and become powerless, or to embrace and become an interactive element participating in this transition.
THE BOOK OF ‘CHILAM BALAM’ OF CHUMAYEL
The Books of Chilam Balam form the most important part of this native Maya literature. Written in the Maya language, they reflect more closely the thought of the Maya than any other records that have come down to us. Not only do they contain a wealth of historical and ethnological information invaluable to the student of the pre-Columbian career of the Maya, but they also furnish a record of the reactions of the native mind to the European culture and of the manner in which the latter was adapted to suit its new environment. It is hardly necessary to dwell upon the value of these old texts to the linguistic student.
The translation of the Book of Chilam Balam of Chumayel depends primarily upon the reading given to the badly punctuated and often misspelled Maya text, and such a reading is based upon an extensive comparison with other similar texts. The difficulties of translation are not to be underestimated, but they can be greatly lessened by such a comparison.
The Books of Chilam Balam are the sacred books of the Maya of Yucatan and were named after their last and greatest prophet. Chilam, or chilan, was his title which means that he was the mouth-piece or interpreter of the gods. Balam means jaguar, but it is also a common family name in Yucatan, so the title of the present work could well be translated as the Book of the Prophet Balam.
During a large part of the colonial period, and even down into the Nineteenth Century, many of the towns and villages of northern Yucatan possessed Books of Chilam Balam, and this designation was supplemented by the name of the town to which the book belonged. Thus the Book of Chilam Balam of Chumayel is named for a village in the District of Tekax, a short distance northwest of the well-known town of Teabo.
This Prophet Balam lived during the last decades of the Fifteenth Century and probably the first of the Sixteenth Century 1 and foretold the coming of strangers from the east who would establish a new religion. The prompt fulfillment of this prediction so enhanced his reputation as a seer that in later times he was considered the authority for many other prophecies which had been uttered long before his time.

thanks for being honest and frank about this earthchangestv issue. the “ancient text” is used here as a cover to only support the hypotheis propmoted. you know really for folks who have internalized a five continuum world view( a soul world holding space-time) than it is us soul beings who are really effecting the sun and weather and earth changes and not the other wat around. the world has already ended as you probably know and the date and times are all out there. even the ancient catholic prophecy of the popes by the irish saint malacy pinpoints the change into the new world we entered – defined by the symbols of the last “three popes”. Laboris solis=eclipse of the sun for the last pope john paul and then after him came “gloria de olivia” which for those truly understanding of the wisdom tradition means what we jews call the geulah – the redemptive era of the earth as the holy temple-which is what the glory of the olive the sacred oil/shemen that lights the temple. it means that during a very special total solar eclipse(during the previous popes reign) recorded btw in the dresden codex that we entered the fifth world of pueblo prophecy; the sixth sun of the maya. the present “pope” is actually the “last” pope called peter of rome in the prophecy simply because he is only a local leader in actuality; what christians call the church age ended already.

All this person and I thought was ‘hmmm???’ Can’t personally see that anything ‘negative’ was ‘projected’ by the initial correspondent, and wondered if ‘ECM Team’ just couldn’t ascertain the definitions of two totally different words, or ???…in the correspondent’s obviously graceful second response.
In the recent newsletter said correspondent received was an interesting sentence:”The possible upcoming articles will seem…” Thought he’d said this Urgent Message would be in Monday’s Newsletter….hmmm Now, it appears it won’t. Instead, “possible upcoming” states “will be told in Monday night/Tuesday” hmmm. Also included was a list of names, apparently to lend “credibility” to ECM’s Mitch Battros….hmmm
I may have to go home before ever getting the chance to read this ‘Urgent Message’ that the correspondent is so kindly willing to share with me….all this does makes me wonder if there is anything of import in this ‘Urgent Message’….

Thanks for voicing this. I had the exact same reaction. In the past when one person tries to prophet from information that should be distributed for free, the originator of the message usually will find another source to get the message out. Thus, Carlos will lose his golden egg through his own greed.

…and another thank you for your post. I missed coast to coast am last night, and went to the website to follow the link the Mitch’s site, only to be absolutely horrified. I immediately clicked out of the site because this guy is nothing but a snake oil salesman. Since the beginning of time, predictions about the end of time have always been a great source of profit for the unscrupulous. This guy is just shameless. And shame on anybody that might support such a miscreant.
With the proliferation of information over the internet, his scheme will backfire, but it won’t matter anyway. I’m sure everything this guy has to say is manufactured, and without any basis, so who cares anyway? It would be a waste of time to listen to this charlatan.

I wrote ECM because I could not believe that potentially earth shattering news would not be made free of charge. What humanity loving person would do that? That would be a sin of a magnitude worthy of immediate admission to hell.
At first I suggested that Barrios had erred in releasing such serious stuff to someone who couldn’t release the information without charging for it. Whoever responded to me was either in the midst of childbirth contractions, or was having a very bad day. I was told that members had made the decision,but scholarships were still available .
I then asked if Barrios was aware that his revelations were only going to those who could afford to pay for them. Honey, the baby must have bungee jumping off those contractions or a bad day was worsened by a visit from the Chinese Mafia,because the next email was fermented venom. When I asked if Battros himself was writing this stuff,the emails stopped.
For their souls’ sakes I hope that it’s all a hoax.

May be free info but then again drunvalo is not someone I would trust if I were a Mayan Elder. I would question any Elder who thinks he is an appropiate person to get info out just like Mitch. Seriously if this group of Elders wanted to get the word out they could issue press releases, call the media do a documentary, take a delegation to the United Nations, even though the UN can’t be trusted it would get lots of press coverage. Hearing about how people emailed ECM and received these testy replies… it’s probably Mitch himself doing it. I’ve loosely enjoyed getting the emails because of clues to what I can research on my own. Hearing about the poor treatment, the “scholarships”, and the “denied scholarships” makes this guy sound like a lunatic. Sad, really. I just found your blog.
For a few years I’ve been back and forth with Mitch on some issues he’s presented, only to get very mean responses, which I was taken back as Mitch’s words do not match his actions. It was like a controlling father talking to his small child. Unless I was a visible and known person, I had no voice or right to question his behavior.
The above issue, charging for the Mayan message? I was stunned by Mitchs behavior, months ago, when I read his request. Carlos Barrios did not want Mitch to charge for this info. I repeat, Carlos Barrios did not want Mitch to charge for this info. Mayan elders would be not happy he made such a move. Many know this, most haven’t commented on it but I’m glad it’s been brought to the surface.
After my second communication with Mitch, I knew he had a long way to go to walk his talk, spiritually speaking. It was no use to waste my breath/words as he wasn’t ready. We are coming into the age of compassion, lets keep Mitch in our prayers, that his lessons will be for his highest and best good. Perhaps, with a reluctant shift of humbleness and a new commitment to the greater good, his work will transform and be an better asset to society.
May 2010 be a year of compassion. Blessings to all…

One of the interesting and provably wrong comments Mitch made in his post about an earthquake in Puerto Rico is:
Haiti which is near the Puerto Rico Subduction Zone. But note: this event is not the one which has been envisioned. It will be a larger quake measuring in the 9 + magnitude on the east side of Puerto Rico directly along the line of the Subduction Zone. A tsunami will be created and travel northeast towards the US east coast.
Yo, Mitch, the US east coast is to the northWEST of Puerto Rico. Look at a map.
I have tickets to Puerto Rico today, and I found out about his prediction yesterday. Naturally I have fear, even as a meditator of 30 years…but I must say that it is absolutely spineless to make a prediction without a date.
If you want to predict stuff, put a date on it so someone can say whether you’re right or wrong. If you’re right 60% of the time, that’s pretty good. If you don’t put a date on it, you can always say something hasn’t happened YET. Geez, maybe FDR will be reborn and become president again–hasn’t happened YET.
Stirring up fear for money? Mitch, why not go into banking?

Thanks for saying what I’ve been thinking. I’ve been disgusted for awhile with the unadulterated self-promotion and solicitation of not just Battros, but also other supposed “wise elders.” I know everyone needs to make a living, but taking vacations on other’s hard-earned money is unconscionable in my opinion. I used to receive a newsletter in the past from a Native American elder/UN ambassador begging for money to keep their ranch afloat, yet they travelled around the world. I have a mortgage, car payment, college tuition to cover, but I don’t beg for contributions to keep my lifestyle afloat. Spirituality shouldn’t be up for the highest bidder. If you have to pay for a friend, you can judge their loyalty by the weather…

I am an childhood friend of Mitchell of which I have spent many hours and adventures with. I do not recognize him any longer. While I am somewhat interested in his theories and views on the planet and the solar effects, his un-ending rants of his scoialist supporting political views on his website have become quite unbearable. His “News” is nothing new. He supports and promotes socialism and the socialist polices of the current President, while refusing to expose this Presidents un-American views & actions. Yet, he wants to profit from his “wisdom” of “prophecy” from someone who wishes it be told free of charge. His political agenda is far more important to him than his scientfic agenda, and it appears that his monetary agenda takes first place over all others. I sent a request to him, for me to be removed from the Earth Changes Media contact list due to his continued Liberal agenda, on which I received the response, ” No problem, no regrets”. I wish Mitchell no ill will, however I feel his views and actions will be his own un-doing. “Earth Changes”??? How’s that “Change” working out for you America? Shameful to say the least…….

Your assessment of Mitch Battros is right on. He is indeed a little man with a colossal ego and a distorted perception of his own relevance. For the life of me, I don’t understand why George Noory of Coast-to-Coast AM continues to bring him on as a guest and consultant.

After living in underdeveloped nations of the Americas and Asia, I do believe that any person with the good fortune to be born in the USA has no right to beg such favors… hell, to complain about virtually anything. Even our most destitute of welfare recipients in the USA have more luxuries (i.e., electricity, indoor plumbing, hot tap water, flushing toilets) than most of the world’s poor.
Personally, I send my biblically-mandated 10 percent tithe directly to a needy Mayan family in El Peten of northern Guatemala. My recipient and Brother-in-Messiah has commented to me: “I must laugh but also I cry. The Estadounidenses (those of the U.S.) say they love my people now and want our wisdom. I ask, where were they for 30 years when the Maya were victims of genocide? (1966-1996) Over 200 thousand of my people were tortured and murdered and nobody on the outside cared. Where were the spiritual seekers then?”
Charlatans such as Battros and Drunvalo rarely, if ever, remind their followers that the Mayans still exist by the millions and would be happy to receive some of the crubs that fall off the edge of the American feast table.

Engtovo . . . .Bravo to you! You said everything in your blog that I was thinking for the past couple of years!! Mitch is only interested in the dollar signs and recognition from NASA. He is being very hypocritical in all what he professes to be as well as telling us how we should be. I found your article today 7/7/10 because I was looking for a free website that would give us Carlos latest messages. I wonder why Carlos keeps sharing all his messages exclusively to Mitch??? Please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you for expressing your views that so many readers feel about Mitch and his greed.

So, I was one that got suckered. Really pissed off….I bought into his advertisements. Have an account and really disappointed. Nothing new there and the recordings you cant even make out. With technology today, he could have 10x better recordings.
Anyway, what prompted me to find this..and thank you by the way, was that I was linked in on his facebook. And some of his postings about BP Oil I would comment on. I would comment that I was surprised that he take stances and I mentioned that I do not believe anything from media anymore. Someone posted in favor for him and my response was, “how do you know?”. Simple right?
Long story short, he removed my comments, he blocked me and removed me. So censorship is his game. I was very surprised by this action. When I thought he might have been forward thinking and open minded. He is not. After that I certainly know now he has an agenda. I am going to try and ask for a refund of my membership but doubt I will get anywhere.
Ultimately tho people need to know he is a FOS person. People are being scammed by his claims and into paying him money. BTW …all the stuff on his site is the same thing as the news, but then he sometimes ads his own commentary.
Yup..I feel dupped! And I am slightly pissed off because I have been watching him for a few years now. But everyone’s comments here are right on. Thank you.
